Several of our instructors copied and circulated amongst other teachers some of the outrageous material put out by the people mentioned above. Here are some of the responses we recieved back

NB: We would have liked to have given details for each contributor (if they permitted it) however in the past we have found when we have those mentioned soon recieve hate and/or spam mails as well as obnoxious or pornographic letters. Sometimes anonymous phone calls are recieved at people's home addresses. Surprisingly (?) this predominantly occurs with people whose names were on the address lists copied by Christopher Jones and his female followers.
I would like to state once again that these all pages are the result of my own and other contributors work. They are not written by anyone named 'Terry Dukes'. No serious teacher takes any notice of Jones's libelous Web pages. Our instructors, unless mentioned as such, have nothing whatsoever to do with any members response to them.
Recieved contributions and comments arranged in pairs (some slightly edited for clarity and spellings)
Many Mushindo teachers regard the 'internet' as totally irrelevant to what they try to teach or learn, this is why they do not bother to respond to provocation or insults. They cannot be coerced into giving out information which will later be misquoted, turned inside out or re-presented into something different at some later date.
The real basis for the 'facts' put out by this nasty pair are well known to us all and most of it comes from freely available sources originally provided quite openly by Mushindo Kempo itself. However when you see such sources in their original and unadulterated form the conclusions one draws are very different to those concoted by the Oxford pair.
No one ever believed that if one studied our Kempo you were learning Uechi ryu Karate. Several of our new and inexperienced dojo secretaries mistakenly thought that we were connected to this school at one time but this error was quickly detected and corrected especially after the ex Uechi people arrived to train. This mistake had no connection to Sensei T.Dukes as he had nothing to do with administration or printings and other things often put out under his name. Such connection as they make exists only in their imaginations. Sensei's expertise, reputation or knowledge never depended upon or was helped by any such connection. Was he not the Sensei who first helped publicise the Uechi ryu in GB?
Much of what this Oxford pair crazily try to attribute to Sensei T.Dukes was really just the result of incautious editing of other peoples letters etc by Mr P.Crompton in his magazine due probably to the pressures under which he produced his magazine. He was always making mistakes in people's letters and changing names or editing their articles. To most people at the time (unless you came from Boston USA) this was patently obvious.
There were several active Mushindo groups and teachers prior to Sensei T.Dukes's dojos becoming public, there are many more still but this little group (Oxford) do not know of them and never had any reason to be told of them. Were they not just one junior club being taught by Shifu Nagaboshi? Who are they anyway?, they have never gained any senior belt between them.
John Cranfield when asked over 30 years ago told us that he probably did use Mattsons book design at one time to create his dojo publicity leaflets as his own artistic skills were limited and his deadlines were always short. It was nothing to do with Sensei Dukes. John did however produce it the correct way up (despite what others say) as this was how the design was placed by Sho Hashi on his flag. Crompton also used this pattern for his own magazine publicity and produced badges which he sold at his shop until Sensei Dukes found out and stopped him doing this. Doug Donaldson (a London dojo secretary) wrote into the magazine complaining about this at the time but I doubt if Crompton ever printed his letter. Mattson never complained to anyone so what the hell have these old events to do with us now?
When Shifu Nagaboshi was studying in the Ryukyus etc he lived as did I as a monk and certainly would not have possessed any cameras. All our pictures were given us by other students, seniors or visiting guests.
I have trained almost as many years as Shifu Nagaboshi and with two exceptions know everyone who studied in the first Crystal Palace club and well as those of the Naha daytime dojo. We all still teach in our own clubs either here (GB ) or overseas. None of us has ever spoken or written to these Oxford people or furnished them with any information about these times. Of the two exceptions one of these is dead and the other is still a monk in Japan. If what they allege contained any grain of truth it would only be created by misusing literature from a much later generation of students.
I and many others have seen the original certificate, reframed and hung up in 1997 by Sarah Harris, which was issued under the 'Business Names and Registration Act of 1916 as amended by the 'Companies Act of 1947' by the then named Board of Trade which records patent to both the name and badge design of the Mushindo Sanshinmon design, for the purposes of manufacture and production in any form whatsover, as being the sole property of the Okinawan (Mushindo Kempo) Karate Kai and/or its named representative(s). A sealed specimen of the registered 'Mon' is attached to the rear of the certificate. It is signed and certified by a 'R.W.Westley' and at present hangs in an obscure corner of Shifu Nagaboshi's home next to the Kongoryuji temple. Its registration name and number I will not divulge here. Incidentally it hangs next to a copy of Shifu Nagaboshi's (unmentioned) Japanese language Shingon teaching certificate and also his Chinese language Kempo authorisation. Strange isn't it that these are not mentioned at all. Is there no limit as to how low these Oxford people will sink?
I went to Okinawa the same year as Sensei left and trained with many of his teachers as well as a few others he didn't meet. I took many photographs of people and places as well as collecting many other mementos, including pieces of the Ryushinji temple which i saw being demolished. My pictures include several of Master Otomo and other high teachers. I also took photos of Kanei Uechi at a non Uechi seminar which i made copies of and gave out both to some of my Wing Chun friends and Shifu Nagaboshi. Some of you have probably seen them.
The 10 belt Bodhisattva system of Mushindo Kempo mentioned in BW is not the one shown by R.Alison at his page at all. Our colors & system are quite different in design and to my knowledge have never been fully used in England. The system he shows was that first used by Doug Donaldsons dojo in London, England for 'outsiders' in 1967 and may well have been pinched from Mattson for reasons of convenience. It was probably used by some other dojos for a short while but that is not important. Our proper training manual shows quite clearly that when and if we use belts at all we have our own 3 and 10 belt system. The 10 belts are usually for newer students. The 3 belt system has always been both traditional and predominant in all our groups. In my own dojo we dont use rankings at all. This stuff is just an Oxford 'blind alley' and sounds like it has been dragged up from the Uechi people.
I see I am mentioned in one of Rupert Alisons latest web pages and I would like to state that I have never left Mushindo training but simply switched to running a private dojo. The account given of me 'attending a meeting of seniors at which I found out about Mushindo' is ridiculous and does not resemble any reality and I have never met or spoken to Mr Alison. I certainly did find out 30 odd years ago that Mushindo ryu was the best thing I have ever encountered and will always be grateful for this discovery. Mr D.Gillon was never a 'senior teacher' in Mushindo, he just taught at one of the rural public clubs. He was I thought a deeply disturbed person of his own making who would not listen to anyones advice. Shifu Nagaboshi was not even in this country when Gillons troubles began and by the time he returned to Britain Mr Gillon had already gone away. I believe he turned up later at C.Jones's dojo in Oxford and and attacked him. The man who was the Norwich club secretary can tell you much more alarming things about what Gillon did and said at the time. Mr Rowles, who is also mentioned on that web page was not very keen to help his old friend at this time.
I was a member of the Oxford club of Christopher Jones and can tell you that the only brainwashing that went on in Mushindo was in the Oxford club itself and nowhere else, it was why I left. I, my friends and most of the other dojo students only saw Shifu Nagaboshi about 4 times in 5 years as he was not our teacher but I am sure that if he had been I and my friends would have stayed training as he was the only teacher we met who treated us women as adults and equals.
The only mistreatment (if you can call it that) of women that occured in Mushindo was at the Oxford dojo where the people teaching there seemed to regularly swap partners amongst themselves. Both Rupert and Christopher seeming to prefer either tall skinny or short dumpy girls. I dont find it at all surprising that the girls we are told complain about Shifu Nagaboshi are all one time sex partners of these two. They were probably after him next and got rebuffed. I know all these women and none of them ever complained to me in any way about Shifu until Christopher was thrown out. I can give more details if needed.
My son was addicted to Heroin and it was only because he joined a Mushindo Dojo and was helped by Shifu Nagaboshi that he lived for as long as he did. Throughout all his short and troubled life Shifu continued to advise and help him whenever he need it, even inviting him to stay at his home in Norfolk as part of the healing process. I will always be grateful to the Mushindo people for all the aid they gave me at this time.
DICTIONARY
My name is mentioned, without my permission, on Rupert Alisons web page as being
included as one of the dictionary's terms. I have never objected to this at all
and am quite proud to be immortalised in such a manner. When I first came to
training I was very stupid and made many mistakes in what I said and did. It was
only Shifu who took the trouble to put me right and enabled me to make something
of my life. I am very happy that other students learn through my mistakes in
such manner.
I am one of the women spoken of in R.Alisons pages as being an 'ex
girlfriend' of Shifu Nagaboshi. I would like to make it abundantly clear that I
object to my name and personal details being manipulated by Mr Alison in such a
manner. Not only is what he says untrue but it is slanted in such a way as to
make Shifu appear to be something he is very much not. I am still in good
contact with Shifu and he still acts as my teacher even though I am not training
in Kempo.
RUPERT ALISON
A recently recieved (abridged) note forwarded to us from someone claiming to be him
.......... As for who is responsible for the absurd Bod pages (which I haven't seen for
over a year now) I'm sure everyone who was involved .... at that time
knows that Chris was the driving force behind them. Various people provided
some help at the beginning but then tended to drop out as they realised the
extremely obsessive and hate-filled nature of the endeavour. I wouldn't
want to risk further unnecessary antagonism by naming them at this stage.
I've barely been in touch with any of these people for over two years now,
and have no way of knowing who is currently taking part.
Despite my misgivings about Mushindo when I left, I never wanted to attack
or destroy it. If I had it seems to me that I would really have learned
nothing at all from my time in the group.
Subsequent to the previous we recieved
notification that Rupert Alison wished us to know that he had nothing to do with later Web pages condemning MKA etc and that these were all inspired by 'C.Jones and those round him' from whom he broke all contact soon after. This presumably includes all the women also?
We are currently collecting information and photographs of Caroline Souter( particularly Charterhouse school photos), Lexi Hunt, C.Jones, Sophie Power, Caroline Abrams, Hidde Wallart, Sarah Harris & Thane Gilmore. If you can contribute please contact me via email. We will reimburse all expenses. I am especially interested also in material from any ex girl & boy friends of the above.
