I would also like to make it clear that far from discouraging people from studying Kempo the effect of such criticism has evoked an even greater interest and commitment from both old and new students. As perhaps an indirect result the number of enquiries, new groups and students, in both GB and Overseas, have increased. Our groups being mostly private are not affected by lies whilst those who do not know us personally may be.
Read now about some of the students we've had to tolerate. The 'Hitler' group have brought much mental suffering to the many unfortunates that have been exposed to them. Several of those named have been the subject of exposure in other peoples sites:

Although the content of the above tales may seem a lot, it actually stretches over a period of nearly 40 years and is unusual. No doubt other equally shocking but hopefully edifying accounts will emerge in due course. Despite such people we should not give up hope in students. If students (or their teachers) do not really apply themselves to developing and expanding their self understanding they will always be prone to self deception. It is often difficult to come to terms with what we discover we really are but we must for our own good. We wil all die some day and at that time what we have done and thought will return to us. What we have made ourselves become, our mental states and qualities will determine what we shall become later. That is why it is so important to begin now.
We have to learn to accept ourselves and work forwards. In proper Kempo we can not forget or bypass this, it is one of Kempo's main goals. No one forces us to do it, we must make our own choice and see the sense of it in our own experiences and life patterns. We also must learn to take responsibility for our own development and avoid blaming others for whatever disturbing things we discover or realise about ourselves. Monks are taught to thank those who bring them to such understandings and express their sincere gratitude towards them.
Mushindo Kempo is very much an 'open' system, as students are encouraged to work things out themselves. Some may abuse this privilege and blame all the inevitable results upon their teachers - as most of these people above have done- but the benefits from a heuristic method make it worthwhile. It is a difficult and often unthanked task teaching fools and self destructive idiots, often only the teachers know the sacrifices made to benefit such people. Despite such students we must keep alive the Bodhisattva spirit in what we do for this is the only way that martial or other arts ever make any sense. Even though we may be compassionate we should ever be alert for those who twist and warp the words and minds of the uniformed.
